In any case the “Salon Berlin” is an unusual oasis for would-be travellers right beside the Mediterranean beach and Carmel Market. Just its design makes it unusual, with its dark wood panelling on the ceiling, plastic roses and crocheted tablecloths on the tables, with Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe, drinks and loudspeakers for the next party. Visitors from Germany, particularly from Berlin, are of course welcomed warmly. {{#newBox:listbox}}

The name says it all and is still seen as a little provocative. Whereas there used to be women’s clothing shops in Tel Aviv with names like Salon Paris or Salon Budapest, of course there wasn’t one named after Berlin out of respect to Holocaust survivors. The fact that one has now existed for the past three years in an alienated form has made the little shop famous.
